Dear Dr. Seckel, I was wondering how effective Titan is for tightening the face/neck and the thigh area. I know that it requires multiple treatments, but how long do the treatments last? Thank you. Dee, McLean, VA
Dear Dee,
Titan is one of 5 non-surgical facial rejuvenation skin tightening technologies available. Thermage® and Aluma with FACES® use radiofrequency energy and Titan® and the Palomar Starlux® LUXIR Fractional Handpiece use Infrared energy and Refirme uses a combination of energies.
I have tried them all on my face-I like the Aluma with FACES and the Luxir fractional best-it is much less painful than the others and it is the newest technology in this field.
All of these technologies are new-and most can accomplish a 30% skin tightening when compared to a face lift, which achieves close to 100%. Skin tighetning is not a non-surgical face lift as so often advertised.
Plan on needing 3-5 skin tightening treatments and possible yearly touch ups at about $800.00 to $1000.00 per treatment for the LuxIR less for the Aluma with FACES. The others cost 2-4000 for the first treatment and at least 500/treatment after that.
The problem will be finding the skin tightening machine, as they are new. I suggest contacting www.palomarmedical.com to find a doctor in your area.
I like the procedure and think it has a great future.
It works better on younger skin (30-50) than on older skin (60-100).
It works on any skin area-abdomen arms etc.

Thank you,
