Dear Rachael,
Soft tissue fillers are the best non-surgical facial rejuvenation technique for the nasal labial fold and marionette lines. Bruising and swelling can happen following the injection of any filler, Radiesse, Restylane, Collagen, Cosmoplast, Sculptra or Hylafom. The bruising and swelling will resolve in at most 7-10 days and is no cause for alarm.
Since more was placed in the nasal labial fold on one side-which is usually done when one side has a deeper line and needs more filler, you may also notice unevenness or lumpiness in the area. If this occurs gentle massage will help smooth the area out.
You wont be deformed, as all fillers dissolve in time usually at most by 6-9 months, rarely a year
I always have patients apply ice or cold packs to the injection area immediately after injection, as I believe this helps prevent bruising. I also have my nurse apply firm pressure to the injection area immediately after injection.
