Dear Dr Seckel, I have rosacea and light brown skin color. I have skin thickening and was wondering if the Sciton MicroLaserPeel® might be a safe option. Jean-Francois, Mississauga
Dear Jean-Francois,
The Sciton® MicroLaserPeel® laser facial skin rejuvenation technique is safe for light brown skin as long as the procedure is not done too deeply. The average 40-micron microlaserpeel laser skin rejuvenation peel would be safe and should not cause any color change. Results can be excellent.
Rosacea can be made worse by any form of skin irritation or deep skin exfoliation but this should be controllable by topical 1% Hydrocortisone cream (which should never be used longer than 2 weeks) after the procedure under the advice of your physician.
I am not sure what you mean by skin thickening so I cannot say whether the MicroLaserPeel® laser facial skin rejuvenation technique will help the condition you are concerned about. Generally skin exfoliation will thin the skin.
I recommend that you consult a board certified physician who is experienced with the Sciton® MicroLaserPeel® procedure and other non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures so that you can be properly evaluated by an expert.
Generally speaking I prefer to use an IPL or Photo facial treatment as my choice for non-surgical facial rejuvenation for patients with rosacea
