Dear Dr. Seckel, I am a 38 year old mother of three and very fit. However no matter how hard I work I cannot get rid of the loose skin on my tummy and I want my normal breasts back. Can you tell me about the mommy makeover? Thank you, Sheri, Boston, Massachusetts

Although the term “Mommy Makeover” has become very popular term the “Mommy Makeover” is not a new surgical method. Rather, the “Mommy Makeover” is a combination of two or more surgical procedures that address the changes in a woman’s body due to pregnancy. A “Mommy Makeover” can restore a new mother’s figure in one [...]

Dear Dr. Seckel, I have a c section scar which looks horrible. There is a flap of skin hanging over the c section scar which makes my tummy bulge and shows under my bathing suit. I want this bulge removed but don’t want a bigger scar and would like to be able to wear a two piece again. I am otherwise very fit. Thank you, Brenda, Boston, Massachusetts.

Dear Brenda,
Thank you for your email. Your complaint is a very common one today and fortunately you can get back into your two piece with a modern mini or bikini tummy tuck procedure. The bikini tuck is a frequent part of the mommy makeover which is very popular today. With modern techniques the tummy [...]

Dear Dr. Seckel, Do you perform the mommy tuck tummy tuck procedure that Dyla Devons had done? It looks fairly simple on http://extratv.warnerbros.com/2007/11/dayna_devons_lifechanging_deci.php. I have had three children, am in great shape but just have some lax skin on my lower tummy that I cannot get rid of. Thank you, Lori, Boston, Massachusetts.

Dear Lori,

Thank you for your email. I do a minor tummy tuck similar to the mommy tuck you refer to. I use a very small incision that can be concealed by a bikini so you can still go to the beach and not have a visible scar showing. I also call this the bikini [...]

Dear Dr. Seckel, I am a 30 year old mother of three wonderful children living in Boston. Although my children are my greatest joy, the effect of three pregnancies on my body has left me feeling less than confident about my body. My breasts are smaller, have sagged, and I have loose skin on my tummy, especially above my c-section scar. I have heard about the mommy makeover and am interested but want to know exactly what the mommy makeover is and if it is safe. I have read that the mommy makeover involves a breast lift and breast augmentation and a tummy tuck. Can they really be done safely at the same time? Thank you, Paula, Boston, MA

Dear Paula,

Thank you for your question. Interestingly, women in your age group who have had children and share your concerns are the largest group of patients seeking Breast Augmentation in my Boston Plastic Surgery Practice, and have been for many years. The use of the name “mommy makeover” has brought a great deal [...]
