Dear Robin,
There are no side effects I am aware of re loss of pigmentation in Black skin following soft tissue filler injections-and I would not expect any-as I have injected black skin with Restylane with no problems. The filler needs to be injected in mid to deep dermis. If it is injected too superficially then skin reaction is possible and could cause a problem.
The only other issue would be that of keloid formation. If a person with Black skin has a history of forming keloids then I would not inject a filler. The needle puncture could cause a keloid and that would be a disaster in such a visible location.
