Dear Dr. Seckel, I am 50 years old and am strongly considering the Lifestyle Lift (face-lift) to improve my neck and Nasal-labial lines as well as having my upper and lower eye areas improved (? blepharoplasty or eye lift). I would like your opinions on the Lifestyle lift procedures in general. How do they compare to more traditional methods, how long do the procedures last and are there any risks that you are aware of? Thank you for your time. Molly, Northbrook, IL.

Dear Molly,

I have no experience with the lifestyle lift and cannot advise you about bthe lifestyle lift. I use a classic face lift which is the gold standard.

Please check my website under “ask dr seckel”- category lifestyle lift and you can read the experience of some who have had this procedure.

The most important thing for you to consider when contemplating facial
rejuvenation surgery, especially a face lift is that you consult 2 experienced surgeons who are board certified in Plastic Surgery in my opinion.

No matter what the procedure is called–Lifestyle lift, mini lift or face lift–the most important thing for your safety and for you to get a result you are happy with is the experience and training and credibility of the doctor who is taking care of you. The name of the procedure is only a name a series of words.

Most important is skill and experience of the doctor who performs the surgery.

A well-executed face lift can produce wonderful facial rejuvenation if the face lift is done by an experienced face lift surgeon.

In my book Save Your Face, which I strongly urge you to read, a whole
chapter entitled “Don’t Let Just Anyone Touch Your Face” is entirely
devoted to how to find a good surgeon, please read it.

Marketing of cosmetic or plastic surgery today is very aggressive and many patients do not always get the results they are promised. I have tried in my book to protect people from disappointment by outlining how to find a good doctor. Finding the right doctor is essential, what he/she calls the procedure is meaningless, honestly the surgical procedures to rejuvenate the face are all very similar, and variations on a theme designed to meet the particular requirements for your unique face- but called a wide variety of names.

For more information on face lift, blepharoplasty and plastic surgery read Save Your Face or contact me.

Sincerely,

Dr Seckel
