Dear Dr. Seckel, I am only 29 and I am beginning to see eye wrinkles at the corner of my eyes. It used to happen only when I smiled but now I can see the wrinkles at the corners of my eyes even when I’m not smiling. I have tried several creams but I don’t think they help. Can the laser remove eye wrinkles? Is it safe? Thank you, Michelle, Boston, MA

Dear Michelle, Eye wrinkles or Crow’s Feet are usually the first sign of facial skin aging to appear and often, especially in fair skinned individuals, eye wrinkles begin to appear at about your age. While Retin A can improve very fine lines after a year or two of use, most non-prescription eye creams do not [...]

Dear Dr. Seckel, I have wrinkles on my facial skin around my eyes and cheeks, smile lines I guess you would call them. I take good care of my skin, use sun block and Retin A, have fair skin and am 50. I work out, take care of myself but I want to be proactive about the wrinkles and smile lines I see forming on my skin. I don’t want plastic surgery. My doctor recommended the Palomar Lux1540. He said it was like the Fraxel, a laser. I have a friend who had laser resurfacing and I don’t want to go through that, she was red for weeks. Can you tell me how the Palomar Lux 1540 works and if it is a good laser for removing wrinkles and smile lines? How bad is the down time? What about Botox for smile lines? Thanx, Beth, Boston

Dear Beth, The good thing is that you are smiling, smile lines are definitely preferable to worry lines or frown lines. Keep smiling, worry about wrinkle removal later. From the information you submitted it sounds as though you are taking the important skin care steps to prevent facial aging and photo aging, sun block, a [...]

Dear Dr. Seckel, I am interested in laser skin care. However I am confused about which laser skin care is best for me. I have fair skin, am 42, and have fine lines on my cheeks and wrinkles around my mouth (not a smoker) and crow’s feet. I wear sun block but do have some pigment on my cheeks worse on the left side of my face. There are so many laser skin care treatments advertised it is hard to know which laser to pick and who to trust. Can you help? Lori, Boston, MA

Dear Lori, Laser skin care is a descriptive term used to denote a very wide variety of laser skin treatments, most commonly wrinkle removal, that are available to treat a wide variety of skin conditions. The most common laser skin care procedure or laser skin treatment available today is laser hair removal but there are [...]
