Dear Dr. Seckel, I am 38, fair skinned and thanks to my parent’s genes still look much younger than my age. My eyelids are starting to change and look older than the rest of my face. The upper eyelids are starting to droop and form hoods over my eyes and I am starting to have dark circles and bags under my eyes. I am using the Obagi products and have tried the Teamine complex but I really don’t see any improvement. I don’t want blepharoplasty or plastic surgery. I have read about a non-surgical blepharoplasty online. Does it work and how is it done, Thank you, Katie, Boston, MA.

Dear Katie, The eyelids are the first part of the face to show signs of facial aging in almost all people. In many people, especially people with fair skin the eyelids start to show aging changes as early as the late 20’s. The first signs of eyelid aging are laxity or loose skin of the [...]

Dear Dr. Seckel, I’m 44 years old. Thanks to my mother’s genes I’m aging very well. I was doing cooltouch laser for facial rejuvenation the last 4 years (6 month intervals).I don’t need wrinkle removal, but lately I’ve seen small sagging line from my nose to mouth.(“marionette lines”). I certainly don’t need a face lift but I am thinking to switch to Luxir skin tightening. Do you think it will be helpful in my case? Any other suggestions? Kate, San Diego

Dear Kate, The LuxIR infrared facial rejuvenation skin tightening machine will definitely be more helpful for early facial rejuvenation of facial sagging and skin laxity along the Jaw line than the CoolTouch Laser. None of these matches the results of a face lift. The facial aging changes called marionette lines and nasal labial fold lines [...]

Dear Dr. Seckel, I recently had 3 Fraxel treatments for wrinkle removal and I am unhappy with the results. It has been 3 months and I still don’t see much improvement in my wrinkles in fact I have seen no wrinkle removal. The treatments were painful and I turned a copper color after each treatment and my skin peeled. I have fair skin with wrinkles and fine lines around my moth and eyes and smile lines in my cheek. I though Fraxel was the best. What do you recommend for wrinkle removal, Katie, Boston, MA.

Dear Katie, Fraxel treatments have been very successful for treating pigment and acne scars. Results for wrinkle removal have been less dramatic. Multiple, deep, higher energy Fraxel treatments can improve wrinkles but most agree a different type of laser skin rejuvenation therapy is better for wrinkle removal. I use the ActiveFX laser skin peel for [...]
