Dear Dr. Seckel, I had fat pearl grafts placed into my eyelids as part of a blepharoplasty to correct dark circles under my eyes. I had the pearl fat grafts transplants placed into my eyes about five weeks ago. On my lower eyelids I have lumpiness above my cheeks. Will these lumps go away? Thank you, Erica, Los Angeles CA.

Dear Dr Seckel-I had an Asian blepharoplasty, eyelid tuck or double fold eyelid operation or Asian eyelid surgery in Hong Kong. It was the Asian double fold 3 stitch operation, it was an incision method where three stitches were made on each upper eye lid and it was done in 5 minutes, the results are not satisfactory with lots of discomfort, bruising, swelling and its uneven. What are the long-term risks? I wonder if that is reversible? Can there be corrective surgery done and what does it involve and what’s the recovery time? What are the risks? I am not sure if the stitches are absorbable or if they stay in the eye lid- are there are further risks and length of time for when the stitches can be removed - I was told these stitches could be removed. Dear Dr. Seckel I had the thread lift and I did not like the results. The tissue that was lifted up was pushed into my eyes making look as if I have bags. and I had the same problem I had dents when I went back the Dr moved them with her fingers. but on one side I still have a dent. It’s not the Dr’s fault it just the threads did not work for me and I wish I had never got them it didn’t correct the nasal folds at all. I am thinking about the weekend lift or lifestyle lift, as I don’t want the scars associated with the s lift. Thank you, Crazy girl

Dear Dr. Seckel. I’m 55 and have some moderate sagging on my lower face and jowls. About 3 years ago I had one Thermage treatment in the hope of tightening that area. If there were results, they’re too subtle for me to discern. In the past 9 months, I had 2 Fraxel treatments seeking a tightening of that area. Again, no visible results. I just contacted a physician about having a Titan treatment for the same area because I’ve read that the down time (with redness and swelling) is less than Fraxel. The doctor is dubious about getting results since the two other similar treatments seemed to have little effect. While in his office, however, I was told about Sculptra and shown photos (from the manufacturer and one in-house patient) that would indicate that several Sculptra treatments might achieve the visible tightening I’m looking for. Would you please discuss Sculptra on your site in relation to skin-tightening? Also, if I decide to do it, how can I prevent or minimize bruising from the injections? I bruise very easily and being a workingwoman, I need to minimize “down time”. Thank you, Anita, Salt Lake City, UT

Dear Doctor Seckel I am a 30-year-old female, and have recently developed nasolabial fold lines, these are quite fine at the top (near my nose) but are more pronounced lower down by the corners of my mouth. Would a dermal filler like Restylane, Perlane, Hylaform, Cosmoplast, Sculptra, or Radiesse be the best course of treatment, or would you recommend trying something else first I have not had any previous cosmetic or surgical treatments and do not want a face-lift or laser resurfacing or plastic surgery. Fillers work very well for the deeper Nasolabial Folds–IF they are injected by an experienced physician who knows how to do it–technique is VERY important–find a doctor who is experienced and does filler injections daily.

Dear Dr Seckel, After reading through the many questions asked on your website by others regarding under-eye hollows, dark circles under the eyes, puffy eyelids and eyelid bags, and about laser blepharoplasty and arcus marginalis release I decided to email you about my own problem. I have attached photos from different angles to show you the extent of the darkness and the hollows. At least I think I have the hollows under the eyes. I have recently had a laser consultation in London,UK for removing dark circles however I feel extremely nervous and do not wish to make the problem worse by starting procedures around the eye area which may not even work in the long term. This particular laser clinic claims to have had a lot of success using the YAG laser for the past 3 yrs however I’m just not 100% sold on the idea! I’m nervous as I’m only 22yrs old and do not wish to make any decisions without fully researching all my options first. I have had dark circles for a long time, although I do not believe they are hereditary. I lost a lot of weight in my early teens which I believe caused further thinning under the eyes making the dark circles even more obvious. I can actually see the blue/green veins under the eye area, that’s how thin the under-eye area is at the moment. I have high cheekbones which make the circles more prominent when I smile. Do you believe you would be able to help me at all? I am willing to travel to the US to correct this problem. I have found that in the UK not many surgeons are as experienced in this particular problem as you are. and if they are they do not advertise their services! Thank you for your time. The major problem causing dark circles under the eyes is the depression or hollowness which starts near the nose and runs along the eye socket bone out towards the side of the face.
