Dear Dr.Seckel, I am considering the Fraxel Laser to improve my stretch marks. Has there been any improvement from this procedure? Thank you, Mistie, Almonte Springs, FLA.

some improvement in stretch marks after skin tightening of the abdomen using the LuxIR skin-tightening machine.

Dear Dr. Seckel: I am 30 years old and have received Restylane a few times in my nasolabial folds and lips with great results. However, two weeks ago I had it in very mild depression-lines on my cheeks. Instead of smoothing out the lines, the filler caused two ridges, looking like GIANT (very gravitated) tear-troughs!!! I basically think he injected too much, the depressions I had were hardly noticeable before, but 0.7 ml was injected totally in two areas of 1 inch each. The doctor admitted the bad result and apologized for the undesired outcome and have now ordered hyaluronidase to reverse the treatment. Now I am worried that the hyaluronidase will not work or resorb my own soft tissue as well! I am panicking!!! Will the skin look saggy after this? Also will the Resty in my lips and nasiolabial folds disappear as well? I am desperate. Thank you in advance Kara, Boston, MA

not inject hyaluronidase-it could cause other problems and make things worse.

Dear Dr. Seckel, I’m considering a brow lift. I believe this surgery would solve two issues at once, one being the obvious lifting of the eyebrows and the other the excess skin in the upper lids is this correct? Thomas, Medford, MA>

normal male eyebrow position is lower and less arched than that of female. If the plastic surgeon pulls the eyebrow high enough to correct excess eyelid lid skin or the hooding of the upper eyelid the result can “feminize ” the eyebrow.

Dear Dr. Seckel, I recently had Thermage skin tightening treatment. What is the difference between Thermage and the LuxIR, Titan, and Aluma Faces skin tightening treatments. Thank You, Shiela, Boca Raton, FLA

all of the non-surgical skin tightening treatments require multiple treatments and a final result is not expected for months-the time it takes for the dermal collagen to remodel.

Dear Dr. Seckel, I recently consulted a plastic surgeon about lip enhancement using fat transfer. In addition to that procedure he suggested surgery (making a fine scar line) to correct the nasal labial area. I am a little concerned about any visible scars on my face. Have you heard of this procedure? Would you recommend it? If not, which filler would be longer lasting? I am allergic to collagen. Thank you, Barbara, NY, NY

A newer procedure called suture lip augmentation-or lip advancement is
done through small incisions on the inside of the lip so there is no
visible scar.

Dear Dr. Seckel, I live in Boston, am 43 years old and very fit. I take good care of myself but I notice wrinkles forming around my eyes and cheeks and the skin around my jaw and under my neck s beginning to sag especially since I recently lost 10 pounds. I don’t want to have cosmetic surgery. I have fair skin and otherwise look younger than my age. What are the options for me other than cosmetic surgery? Thank you, Kerri, Boston, MA

today there are many very effective facial rejuvenation options for you other than cosmetic surgery or plastic surgery

Dear Doctor Seckel, I will be getting GA for malar implants in a few weeks, but am a bit concerned about placement. My Plastic Surgeon typically places them through the eyes, the blepharoplasty incision and I did a lot of research, consulted with docs who do lower blepharoplasty and who say they no longer do transcutaneous incisions because they are too risky. So I asked my Plastic Surgeon to do it intraorally. He says he can, but as long as I understand “his concerns about positioning and am willing to accept that”…He has done quite a few maxillary fractures surgeries, so I feel he can do it easily without directly looking at the orbital rim. But I need your opinion on what could go wrong, in terms of positioning? Am I being unwise to push my Plastic Surgeon out of his comfort zone?Thank you so very much,It is amazing you take the time to answer people’s concerns, it is an amazing site and I am sure I speak for everyone else when I say I am most grateful to your kindness and recommendations. Sincerely,Fiona M., CO

completely agree with your decision to avoid an eyelid or external blepharoplasty incision when having cheek implants

Dear Dr Seckel, My dermatologist recommends Fraxel for me to reduce wrinkles and skin sagging. I am interested in having this done but realized as I left the office that the procedure would not be performed by him but by an assistant aesthetician in his office. Would you recommend this–even if the assistant is well trained? Is there any reason why this should be done exclusively by the Doctor (since this isn’t surgery maybe there would be no problem)? Thank you, Elizabeth, Tucson, AZ
