Dear Dr. Seckel, Hi, I am 36 years old of Spanish decent. I have olive skin. I have fine lines, wrinkles under my eyes, facial aging some uneven skin tone and slight enlarged pores. There are so many lasers and techniques out there and I am confused as to what minimally invasive or non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedure I can use to correct my problems. In addition to trying to correct those problems is there anything else you recommend (IPL, photo facial) to then help in keeping fine lines at a minimum and keeping my skin looking pretty. Thanks so much doc!! Xica, NY, NY.

puffy eyelids and dark circles then an eyelid operation called a laser blepharoplasty will be necessary.

Dear Dr. Seckel, I received a love-bite a year ago and there are still some purple/reddish marks of what I assume to be broken blood vessels under the skin. What options are available to remove this kind of mark on my neck? I’d prefer it was not surgical but if it’s the only option then ill have to consider it. Regards Paul, Sydney, NSW

broken capillaries or blood vessels-if it is then IPL treatment should correct

Dear Dr. Seckel, Hi there, just a quick question…I have very bad dark circles, it actually looks like I have black eyes. The skin is very thin under the eyes and u can see the veins prominently. I get comments on a daily basis such as are you ok? you look very tired, and not uncommonly ‘have you been punched/injured etc?’. As you can imagine it’s very bad for my self-esteem and I am on a mission to correct this. I have researched and it seems that fillers are the only option; this would plump up the skin therefore hopefully making the veins less prominent. Is this a safe option? Thank you, Carl, Bath

I do not recommend filler injection around the eyes-I worry

Dear Dr. Seckel, Can I have a Fraxel procedure done after an injectable filler like Restylane has been used? If not how long do I have to wait? Andrew Norfolk, Va

Dear Dr Seckel, Are there treatments out there that can make enlarged pores smaller? Sarah W. Regina, Sask.

there are many newe treatments for enlarged pores

Dear Dr. Seckel, I am 35-year-old female- a former model turned technology professional. Over the past two years I have been noticing various changes in my facial skin: I have bags under my eyes, a beginning of sagging in my cheeks and neck, laugh wrinkles that have deepened, etc. My appearance is important to me. However, I want to avoid invasive surgery like blepharoplasty or face-lift and am looking for a non-surgical method, which will help me rejuvenate my facial and eyelid skin and overall appearance in a consistent yet naturally looking way, and I’d like to avoid surgery. What is the best method you would recommend? Many thanks, Laura, San Francisco, CA

Dear Laura,
There are many exciting new non-surgical facial skin rejuvenation techniques available today which work very well to prevent facial skin aging and reverse or rejuvenate the facial skin which has been damaged by the sun and facial aging changes, especially for someone your age. It is great that you are starting facial skin rejuvenation […]

Dear Dr. Seckel, I had a lower blepharoplasty (not transconjunctival) and a rhinoplasty (tip area only) performed about a month ago. Since the surgery the outer corners of my eye have turned down (as if I was intentionally pulling them downward (the Sad Eye/Hound Dog Look you mentioned). The inner lid also is turned slightly out in the corners making me look like a different person. I have voice my concerns with my plastic surgeon and he says I look refreshed while others who know me say differently. I’m concerned that I may need corrective surgery however other specialists do not want to see me until six months or so. If the muscle is damage, does it ever correct itself and how long do most patients have to wait until there eye integrity is back again? Lee, Port Jefferson, NY

Dear Lee,
The sad eyed look, also called an ectropion or hound dog eyes, following the eyelid rejuvenation procedure called a blepharoplasty is common after traditional scalpel blepharoplasty an eyelid surgery during which an external incision is made on the outside skin of the eyelid. The turned down lower eyelid not only looks bad but […]
