Dear Dr. Seckel, Hi, I am 36 years old of Spanish decent. I have olive skin. I have fine lines, wrinkles under my eyes, facial aging some uneven skin tone and slight enlarged pores. There are so many lasers and techniques out there and I am confused as to what minimally invasive or non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedure I can use to correct my problems. In addition to trying to correct those problems is there anything else you recommend (IPL, photo facial) to then help in keeping fine lines at a minimum and keeping my skin looking pretty. Thanks so much doc!! Xica, NY, NY.

puffy eyelids and dark circles then an eyelid operation called a laser blepharoplasty will be necessary.

Dear Dr. Seckel, I am 35-year-old female- a former model turned technology professional. Over the past two years I have been noticing various changes in my facial skin: I have bags under my eyes, a beginning of sagging in my cheeks and neck, laugh wrinkles that have deepened, etc. My appearance is important to me. However, I want to avoid invasive surgery like blepharoplasty or face-lift and am looking for a non-surgical method, which will help me rejuvenate my facial and eyelid skin and overall appearance in a consistent yet naturally looking way, and I’d like to avoid surgery. What is the best method you would recommend? Many thanks, Laura, San Francisco, CA

Dear Jill,
I wold start your facial skin rejuvenation and pigment removal program with a good skin cream such as Epiquin®, Glyquin®, or Retin A® and Hydroquinone and a series of 4 microdermabrasions®.
After that IPL or photo facial treatments can certainly help remove pigment and the brown spots and any blood vessels or red flush. IPL […]

Dear Betsy,
Happily there are many no down time non-surgical facial rejuvenation options available to you today. Botox® is one of my favorite “no down time” procedures which for wrinkle removal which can dramatically improve crow’s feet, frown lines, worry lines and even help the downturn of the corners of the mouth.

Hi Dr. Seckel, As a result of a microdermabrasion treatment that went bad about 3 1/2 months ago, I am left with 4 slightly indented spots on my cheek that are pinkish in color. My belief is that the machine malfunctioned. I had scabs on my face for over 2 weeks. Is there anything I can do? At 3 1/2 months are these scars still considered ‘new’ when referring to treatments that are effective for new scars? Thank you! Lenora, Powder Springs.

Dear Lenora,
The scars on your cheeks are still new and will improve. The best treatment now is massage and time. The scars will not be fully mature until about 2 years.
If after a few months the scars are still depressed a treatment to stimulate new collagen production in the skin, such as lasergenesis® might help, […]
