Dear Dr. Seckel,I have a horizontal indentation or line that has formed on one side of my nose along with two smaller lines. It is not a scar and has been there for nearly ten years. I have tried microdermabrasion and non ablative laser treatments and while the rest of my face has benefitted nothing seems to reduce the appearance of the line. I have even seen a doctor and inquired about the use of a filler on my nose, but they said the filling of horizontal lines is usually not succesful.I have read in your blog about the skin tightening with the Aluma Skin Renewal System with FACES and wonder if this might help. Thank you, Marie, Boston, MA.
Dear Marie,
I cannot be certain without examining you but I believe you are describing a bunny line caused by the contraction of the procerus and nasalis muscles. Bunny lines are similar to crow’s feet, worry lines and frown lines in that they are caused by contractioon of the muscles of facial expression and require botox for correction.
Botox should correct this line. The soft tissue fillers such as cosmoplast, cosmoderm, sculptra, hylaform, restylane and radiessec and skin ntightening procedures such as Aluma FACES skin tightening would not help.
For more information on Botox, fillers and non-surgical facial rejuvenation read Save Your Face or contact me.
Thanks,
Boston, Massachusetts
